It is envisaged that by the end of this course of training the trainee operator will be able to answer questions on and perform the following:
• Basic construction, names of components, purpose and use of all controls and gauges
• Legislation and Approved Codes of Practice
• Operator documentation, certificates, method statements, lift plans, duties charts etc
• Pre-start checks and close down procedure, including emergency lowering procedure
• Controlling the Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) from all available operating positions including remote devices, if applicable
• Manoeuvring the MEWP, progressing to manoeuvring in confined area to include tight turns in forward and reverse and travelling in the raised position, (selfpropelled machines only)
• How to position the MEWP up to maximum height and maximum reach in areas of limited access
• Safely mount and dismount the machine
• Carry out accessing tasks, at various points up to full operating height
• Travel with platform raised (where applicable)
• Use platform extension section.
• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of loading and unloading procedures for machine transportation
